About Inspiration

At the FREEDOM TOUR, we seek to make a small change in the world.

We do that by supporting a group of kids rescued from human trafficking, and to accomplish our goal we need to bring along a circle of people. I spend a fair bit of time thinking about the best way to attract those people.

There are a lot of worthy causes out there, and they employ a variety of tactics to raise funds.

Some use guilt or other emotional appeals. Some resort to forms of bribery, and others try to spam us into submission.

All of these are forms of coercion, ways of getting us to do something we probably wouldn’t otherwise choose to do.

We do not want to coerce people to become part of the FREEDOM TOUR, because coercion is rooted in fear. Fear has nothing to do with following Jesus.

We hope we’re telling an inspiring story, one that invites people into this circle. We hope that once they’re here, they find something that helps them on their journey.

The goal isn’t to change anyone’s path. We’re just trying to inspire them to get where they were trying to go anyway.

People have a way of becoming what you inspire and encourage them to be, not what you nag and coerce them to be.
