Overwhelmed

The 11th annual FREEDOM TOUR CLASSIC happened Saturday.

In the aftermath, someone asked me how I felt about the day. I replied, “It probably could have gone better, but I don’t know how!”

Colorado has been unseasonably rainy all spring, and we were concerned how about the weather. The day turned out warm, sunny, and just about as perfect as we could have imagined. I think we saw about 7 raindrops.

159 people registered to ride, more than a 20% increase from last year. More than 80 volunteers greeted the riders with kindness and smiles.

I could go on and on, but I’m honestly just a bit overwhelmed. I’m not sure people really understand how much work by how many people goes into the million details it takes to pull off something like this. When you see it come together, it’s quite something.

On Saturday we made a point of sharing the story, the fact that the whole thing started with a tiny team that rode 500 miles and raised $7,000. I don’t have final numbers yet, of course, but this year we’re gonna exceed $450,000 and 1,200 cyclists.

That doesn’t begin to count the endless hours spent behind the scenes by people who love Jesus and care about our kids.

As I said, it really is overwhelming.

CONGRATULATIONS Rich & Becky for another fabulous job getting this mission team organized!!! It’s amazing to see how this has grown over the past 11 years!!! Having different length trail rides I know takes a lot of extra work & the signs on the trail helping us know where to turn were totally awesome!!!!! God Bless!!!! Woody
