Cookies!

Confession – I find humor in odd places.

As we end a tough year, I’ll share a silly memory, a laugh with absolutely no lesson attached.

As part of the support team, our friend Claire worked overtime to feed the COLORADO MOUNTAIN TOUR team. We ate like royalty each night.

She also baked. Despite lots of miles and climbing, I’m sure some of us actually gained weight during the tour. However, there was one small problem.

In the confusion of loading and unloading gear, one batch of cookies disappeared. Not the end of the world, but Claire spent the week digging through bins searching for those cookies. It became a bit of a quest, one of those funny stories that eventually involved everyone.

Where are those cookies?

On Sunday morning, someone moved something and EUREKA! The lost cookies were found. Since Claire wasn’t around, we decided to surprise her when the team gathered to begin the day’s ride.

The sequence of photos shows the surprise and joy…makes me think of the return of the lost sheep. But that’s not the funny part.

One of our traditions is HELMETS UP! Before each ride we raise our helmets and pray. Those who aren’t riding raise a hat, or their hand, or simply bow.

As you see in this photo, Claire was holding something unusual (red t-shirt).

Cookies up?
