“Are you seeking people who are easy to love?”
It was a social media question. Got me thinking.
Am I looking for people I can love without looking in the mirror? People I can love without being forced to challenge my own privilege, wealth, and security? Do I like loving those who allow me to maintain power and control?
Truth is, you and I would rather avoid questions like these.
I like pretending I’m all about sacrifice. At a safe distance. While I carefully guard my welfare and privilege.
The poor. The sick. Orphans. Widows. Immigrants. Prisoners. Jesus spoke specifically about caring for those folks. He said that’s where we would find Him.
I don’t spend much time there.
Social media is a lot more comfortable when it’s just cat videos and puppy photos.
Like watching cat videos and puppy pictures.
