Why Not?

If you have the opportunity to make an impact, why wouldn’t you do it?

impactOur culture tells us impact is all about power and control, or at least fame and flash. Most folks, I think, would like to make an impact, but they’re unlikely to do something outrageous like riding a bike around the world.

The truth is we’re surrounded by opportunities to make a difference in our circle of friends, family, coworkers, and community.

It’s About Legacy

“Making an impact” means contributing to something or building something that’s not about me and will outlast me.

Grandparents do that when they intentionally pass along stories and wisdom and patient guidance. Small business owners and nonprofits do it when they contribute to and enhance the fabric of their community. You do it when you greet the homeless person authentically. Neighbors do it when they take time to get to know each other.

The missionaries and staff at the HOME OF HOPE do that when they care for children rescued from the horrors of sex trafficking, when they help those kids know Jesus loves them, when they remain faithful as children grow in freedom to become the young men and women God created them to be.

The folks on the FREEDOM TOUR team make an impact. Some ride their bikes hundreds of miles. Some ride for a day. Some drive a vehicle, or volunteer, or figure out other ways to get involved. You can run or walk or save pennies in a jar. It’s all fun. It all brings hope and freedom to these special children. It all makes an eternal impact.

If you have the opportunity to make an impact, why wouldn’t you do it?
