Here Comes The Sun

Monday began week four of Rich’s Ride. I can’t believe how fast it’s going.

My friend Glenn drove all the way from Denver to ride a few days with me. I’m grateful for the company, the commitment, and the great weather he brought along.

We headed south from Burlington, Iowa under cloudless skies. For the first time since day two of the ride I was back in shorts, and by mid-day the layers were gone.

The day was a microcosm of the entire ride. We enjoyed beautiful stretches along the river and a few less-than-enjoyable miles on busy highways. We got lost—we even encountered the Lost River!

I thought I’d share the day in a few photos.

This kind lady flagged us down in front of her ince cream shop in Montrose, Iowa. We HAD to be polite and accept the chocolate milk shakes, right?

Look at the river in the background to get a sense of this final climb to visit the statue of Chief Keokuk.

I’m not sure why the chief had to be on such a tough hill!

The day ended with a nice interview with some folks from the Keokuk press.

You guys are covering alot of miles pretty quick! From what I remember they dont put too many switch backs in the hills by the Mississippi. Up to now the fall has been wonderful in Colorado. See you later, Jim and Sharman
