Most of the best memories aren’t planned.
On a hot day in 2017, a DQ treat apparently sounded pretty tempting. I wonder what they thought when Larry rolled up to the drive-thru window in spandex?
This little guy was just enjoying a sunny afternoon as we unloaded bikes in Trinidad.
A sudden downpour forced the 2019 team to seek refuge in a tunnel just a mile or so from lunch. As the rain subsided we sent John to see if the short trip to the shelter (and food) was doable. He returned with a biblical symbol from the story on Noah’s ark.
We make all kinds of intricate plans to get riders to gather and talk during rides. Then a train comes along. Everyone stops and chats.
We need more trains.
This one requires a series of pics, and a brief story. In 2017, JC joined us for the first leg of our tour – 55 miles from Cheyenne to Fort Collins. His smile and his story captured the hearts of his riding companions.
JC’s bike was, to be kind, somewhat clunky. It was an old, less-than-adequate mountain bike. So at our last rest stop, JC (left) and Phil switched bikes. Phil wanted JC to experience the joy of riding a sleek, high-end bike.
Honestly, I’m not sure Phil understood the challenge. He sort-of collapsed at the finish line.
All good, though. Here’s Phil and JC.
