What’s the “why” behind the FREEDOM TOUR?
The simple answer is, “We’re following Jesus.” Answers the question, I guess, but it doesn’t really explain the “why.”
During lunch at the FREEDOM TOUR CLASSIC, Jon Barratt from Project Rescue read the names of every child at the Home of Hope. He read them slowly and deliberately, because he wanted us to think of each kid as an individual with a name and a face, with their own hopes and dreams.
He wanted us to know. Because once you know, you can’t un-know.
You may choose to look the other way but you can never again say that you did not know. — William Wilberforce
So Jon described the little boy who reads everything in sight and the girl who always takes charge, and for a moment it was like he was talking about the kids on the adjacent playground. For a moment we forgot these kids were born in a brothel. For a moment we forgot they hid under their mothers’ beds while they were forced to perform their terrible work.
Jon wanted us know, so we can’t un-know.
We do the FREEDOM TOUR for lots of reasons. I hope we get a chance to tell lots of people about our 22 kids.
I want everyone to know.
