Start Or Finish

“You should finish what you start.”

My mom taught me that lesson. Don’t quit. Never give up – no matter what.

Except, maybe that’s not always right. Maybe it’s good to get started on my bike ride, even if I need to cut it short. Maybe it’s okay to talk to Jesus or read some scripture, even if it doesn’t happen exactly the way I planned.

What if you should finish what you start is really an obstacle? What if that hard-and fast rule makes me afraid to start if I’m not sure I can finish?

I sense many of us learned the always finish what you start mentality, and maybe it’s got us stuck. Maybe we need to give ourselves permission to know when quitting is okay.

But – sometimes you trust me to finish what I start.

I hope you’ll register for the FREEDOM TOUR CLASSIC on June 19 – 20. You need to know things like routes, jerseys, food, support will be ready. Just getting started and trying hard isn’t enough.

I hope you’ll join the HOPE & FREEDOM CHALLENGE and run, walk, or cycle to support the kids at the Home of Hope. You need to know the app is ready to go.

Trust matters. We should keep our promises. When we know others are counting on us, it’s important to finish what we start.
