What’s In A Name?

It’s one of those old-timey songs.

I’ve heard it dozens of times, but when it popped into my head this morning – things just stopped.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there’s something about that name…

Honestly, I know the melody but I’d have to look up the rest of the lyrics. That’s okay, because that one line is what matters.

There’s something about that name…

Perhaps it’s the season, a few days before we celebrate His birth. I thought about how often I almost casually say “Jesus of Nazareth” or “I’m a follower of Jesus” without considering the weight of the words. And then this little tune called me to ponder something deeper.

So I stopped for a few moments and just thought about Jesus. I tried to simply allow the awe of who He is to wash over me for a few moments.

It’s Christmas Eve. There’ll be lights and gifts and food. For some, there’ll be an empty chair and some sadness. Today and tomorrow will look, in many ways, like any other holiday.

I invite you to join me, to pause for just a moment and quietly let yourself be immersed in Jesus.

There’s something about that name…

Hi Rich….thanks for the excellent message for us all to ponder. Just want you to know that you’re a good and amazing man made in the image of God doing wonderful works for Him and others.
Met you several years ago In Moab at a men’s gathering from two sister churches, one in Colorado Springs. You drove your truck there and spoke to us….I should say, inspired us with your testimony. Had and still has great impact on me.
Would love to talk with you about your “ministry” and what you are doing right now. Have some thoughts to share that might be beneficial to you in the days ahead. I can be reached at jim@simpleasxyz.com.
    Blessings,
    Jim
