It’s Really Pretty Simple

Did you watch CNN Young Wonders?

Five remarkable young folks are making a difference. They remind us it’s possible to change the world by simply by doing what they can, where they are, with what they have.

One of them was asked for advice. Her reply:

  • Start small.
  • Invite your friends.
  • Have fun.

Simple, huh? These kids didn’t need permission to begin. Or a big organization. Or an official 501(c)3. They just needed an idea – and the crazy belief that one person can make a difference and that helping even one person matters.

I don’t think they expected a bunch of attention. I think they just wanted to help, and now they’re seeing ways their idea might grow or spread. And that’s all really cool, but in spotlight of a glitzy award show we should remember how it began.

One person saw a need and tried to meet it in her own small small way. She invited her friends to join the fun.

Anyone can do that.

Six years ago. Becky and I hung up a sign and invited people on a bike ride. We wondered if we could make some friends, have some fun, and raise money to support kids rescued from human trafficking. We didn’t know how to do it.

Hundreds of people, thousands of miles, more than $175,000 later, and we’re still figuring it out as we prepare for year #7 of the FREEDOM TOUR. We’d love to have you join us. Some guidelines from our young friends:

  • Numbers don’t matter.
  • Invite your friends…and make new ones.
  • Have A LOT of fun.

One more: Trust God for the outcome.
