Walls Or Circles?

Are you building a wall or creating a circle?

Walls exclude. The very purpose of a wall is division, creating us and them. Mostly a wall keeps “them” over there and offers “us” some illusion of exclusivity or safety.

Walls are often about fear, of the others, of those who seem different…of “them.”

A circle – my kind of circle – is open to anyone. The chairs face inward. If necessary, we’ll get more chairs and expand the circle.

The circle includes, invites understanding and empathy. It’s a place of grace.

Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)

You might be able to build a wall and keep “them” on the other side, especially by putting them in some socially marginalized, less-than-desirable category. You might be able to gather your group, the folks like you, on your side of your wall.

But Jesus refused to acknowledge categories. Everything about His life and message says He’ll probably be hanging out over there, on the other side, with “them.”

The FREEDOM TOUR strives to create a circle, to be a place where two or three or a bunch of folks are gathered in His name. A place where walls are demolished. A place where we can partner with and serve the least of these in a spirit of shared sacrifice.

We would love it if you would join us. https://frontrangefreedomtour.org/
