“Wow, this looks like fun!”
It’s probably my favorite comment when people walk up to the FREEDOM TOUR table. They see the photos, the jerseys, the maps, and the whole thing looks like a big, crazy adventure.
Who wouldn’t want to be part of the smiles, the sunshine, the friendships and the sense of accomplishment that come with joining this amazing community? It’s a remarkable experience.
Of course, every remarkable experience come with a cost. I enjoy describing the the fun of the FREEDOM TOUR, but I get passionate when I get to share the heart behind all the fun.
“I’m not sure I can do it.” That’s usually how the conversation begins. And then we talk about the obstacles and the fears.
You don’t build authentic community around fun and games and good times. Relationships built only in the sunshine rest on a foundation of shifting sand.
True community is forged in the fire of adversity. The FREEDOM TOUR team encourages each other to explore limits on and off the bikes. We share our stories and develop a common understanding of what it means to support kids rescued from the horrors of sex trafficking.
We become part of a story bigger than ourselves. And when you’re part of something like that, a kind of deep community forms.
I love being part of it and I love watching what happens when folks catch a glimpse of what it might be like to join.
We do have a great time, but that’s just the beginning.
We’d love to have you join us!
