I talked to a bunch of folks this weekend about the FREEDOM TOUR.
It’s an interesting balance, wanting to inspire people and get them involved while understanding that everyone’s free to make their own choices. This great thing we’re doing doesn’t have to be for everybody.
I love it when someone walks up to the display and their eyes light up, when they ask about life on the road, when they wonder if they really could do this difficult thing. I love talking about courage and fear and overcoming adversity.
I love the mixture of hope, wonder, and faith as they confront their willingness to step beyond their comfort zone and trust God for the outcome.
I also love it when someone says, “I can’t do the 500-mile ride”–for whatever reason–“but I want to help.”
And we talk about all the other ways to be part of the team, and I get to remind them that the cycle team gets down road only because we’re surrounded by hundreds of supporters. We get to have all the fun, but we couldn’t do what we do on our own.
This weekend, I realized how much I appreciate people who stop just to say, “Thanks for what you do.”
The FREEDOM TOUR isn’t their thing, and that’s okay. We’re grateful for the circle of folks (that’s you!) who have surrounded us with so much love and encouragement.
I’ll continue doing all I can to inspire and encourage you without any coercion. I’ll do that for three reasons.
- Your involvement might be life-changing for you.
- Your involvement will be life-changing for 25 kids at Project Rescue’s Home of Hope.
- It’s gonna be a blast!
