We begin each day with a word of the day.
Everyone gathers in a circle and someone suggests a word for us to consider and discuss as we ride. Tuesday’s word was COMMUNITY.
One of the things I love most about team rides is the intense sense of community that develops when a group of folks live, work, and sacrifice for a common purpose. Everyone understands quickly that they’re part of something bigger than themselves.
In that environment, special things happen.
People spend their limited free time working on others’ bikes. Sleep is willingly sacrificed after long days of riding to prepare meals. Strong riders spend extra time in the saddle so slower riders don’t get left behind.
Celebrations happen in groups. People who hardly talked discover a voice. Everyone leads, and everyone serves.
It’s a great way to operate. It’s almost like we’re doing life the way God intended.
