A Mob Of Hope

Hope MobWhat’s your mental image of a “mob”?

Did you think of a crime syndicate led by a “mob boss”?

How about mob violence, or mob mentality? Mostly a mob isn’t a good thing. Mobs tend to be disorderly and out of control. They’re spontaneous, usually in a disruptive way.

So what in the world is a HopeMob?

Picture a bunch of compassionate strangers getting together to create sudden, unexpected relief and hope all over the world. How cool is that?

HopeMob has partnered with Convoy of Hope in a couple of completely spontaneous projects. They weren’t asked or invited. They just jumped in to assist in Moore, Oklahoma and Haiti.

I just think it’s amazing when people come together to help, not because there’s an expectation or a program but just because they believe in hope. There’s no question about what’s in it for us or how do we know this is legitimate? They see a need and respond generously out of love.

It’s a real-life picture of doing what you can, where you are, with what you have. And when a bunch of people join hands and do that without wondering who’ll get the credit, some pretty amazing stuff happens.

I tend to think of the people around RICH’S RIDE as a circle, but maybe that’s a bit too organized.

Maybe all of you are a Mob of Hope.
