It’s New Year’s Eve, and I have a simple word-of-the-week…

If we believe the pundits, the Mayan calendar was wrong. The REAL end of the world comes when we plunge over the so-called fiscal cliff.
Call me cynical, but I don’t think that’ll happen. The irresponsible politicians who invented this latest crisis will find another temporary, last-minute way to assign blame and avoid facing the tough decisions.
Let’s not get sucked into their game. “The End Of The World” is about God’s timing and Jesus coming back. That may happen today or tomorrow, or it may not, but it won’t be determined by short-sighted political wrangling. Our job, until He decides it’s time, is to use the days we’re given.

Click the TV remote. Whatever you do, don’t sit and listen to endless proclamations of doom-and gloom. The talking heads make their money promoting fear and division. Turn it off.
Or click to a whole bunch of football. Start some kind of pool—winner picks her favorite meal, loser cooks or does the dishes. It doesn’t matter, as long as you’re having fun and spending time with people and living life.
Click the front door lock. Play outside in the snow. Take a hike, shovel a neighbor’s sidewalk, throw a snowball at someone.
Click the computer mouse on something positive. Send a thank-you. Encourage someone. Yeah, I know all about the face-to-face stuff, but social media can be powerful, too.
Click and take my 1000-of-something challenge. It’s sort of a focused way to make a New Year’s resolution and actually keep it.
Click the chain ring and make a year-end donation to help Convoy Of Hope feed hungry kids.
