SHOPPING
As a kid, I thought Thanksgiving involved some combination of food and football, and I never was quite sure which was more important. I’ve learned to value the “thankful” aspect of the holiday.
But sometime Thursday afternoon it seems the nation’s collective thoughts shifted to shopping, to get the best deals online and/or in-store, shopping is what everyone is suddenly thinking about. The time is about family and food and fall celebrations, but people are also eyeing those deals. All those possible deals that come around this time, especially online on sites like https://www.raise.com/coupons/target. Everyone is looking for a bargain, but aren’t they always?
Either way, I didn’t participate. We spent the weekend on a farm in southern Iowa. I think the only purchase we made in three days was a dozen eggs, which probably isn’t going to do much to boost the nation’s retail prospects.
We skipped Thursday night door busters, Black Friday, and Small Business Saturday. I’m sure there was something I missed for Sunday.
But now it’s time to get in the game. We’ve got some catching up to do.
So today’s Cyber Monday, when we pretend to work while using those high speed office Internet connections to take advantage of screamin’ online deals. And I just happen to have the PERFECT cyber-opportunity.
