Sometimes it feels like the differences we make on a daily basis are insignificant.
They aren’t.

I’ll confess – even though the Freedom Tour has raised nearly $1,000,000 for the kids at the Home of Hope, there are times when I feel like we’re just spitting in the ocean.
Other programs raise millions of dollars and impact thousands of kids. Compared to them, we’re an invisible dot in a great big sky.
When I say that, can’t you just envision Jesus smiling over my shoulder, saying something like,
“Rich, don’t you remember all the time I spent with one person? All the time I dedicated to small groups of people? Do you think that time was wasted? Do you think I didn’t know what I was doing?”
Of course, Jesus knew exactly what he was doing. He knew the kingdom was a one-person-at-a-time proposition, which seems really inefficient until you remember he has unlimited time.
The design is quite ingenious. He touches me and says, “YOU’RE IT!” Then my job is to touch a few others – and if we all play our part and trust him for the outcome, something amazing happens.
So, $1,000,000 isn’t the point, and 22 kids isn’t the point.
The point is a community of folks willing to play our part. And all the interactions between members of the community and with others we encounter – Jesus uses those to slowly, steadily, build his kingdom.
One at a time.
