A Break

Becky and I are not very good at taking breaks.

Partly, it’s because I am such a creature of routine because of my disability. But mostly, we get really involved in doing stuff. Important stuff, for sure, but we don’t take the time often enough to break the routine.

Well, next week a break is sort of being enforced. The floors in our house are entirely hardwood and haven’t been refinished since we moved in 24 years ago. It’s time.

So, we will be “evicted” for a few days. It’s a good thing. We plan to take our bikes and explore some new trails in Western Colorado.

Since I won’t have computer access, that means no blog posts for a few days. I thought about re-running some old ones, but I decided perhaps you might need a break as well.

I hope you have a restful weekend and that you find some time next week to take a break from your routine.

I will leave you with this timely quote, in the hope that we can learn to value each other for who we are as images of God.

We are so obsessed with doing that we have no time and no imagination left for being.

As a result, people are valued not for what they are, but for what they do or what they have – for their usefulness. – Thomas Merton
