Yesterday’s quote sort of disturbs me.

For the last 13 years, we’ve partnered with Project Rescue to help them pull kids out of the river and help them recover. It’s an absolutely necessary and worthwhile endeavor.
But the supply of trafficked women and children is never-ending. Pulling people out of the river will never solve the problem.
At some point, as Bishop Tutu says, someone needs to go upstream and figure out why they are falling in in the first place. And then do something about it.
I’m excited that Project Rescue is doing exactly that in several places around the world. They’ve started programs to work with at-risk populations, providing vocational training and education as well as trauma care for those who’ve already been abused.
They’re literally preventing people from falling into the river.
I dream of the day when the Freedom Tour might be able to support the kids at the Home of Hope AND contribute to one of these prevention programs. For now, though, we can’t rush after the next shiny object.
It would be a mistake to run upstream and abandon those who still need to be pulled out of the river. As long as our kids need us, we will do what we can with what we have to support them.
We’re grateful to everyone who has supported this crazy project, this year and for the past 13 years. Together you have made a real difference in the lives of kids.
If you would still like to make a donation to help us keep pulling these kids out of the river, here’s the link:
