A Persistent Question

Yesterday’s quote was in response to a question.

Someone asked, “What’s the FREEDOM TOUR about?”

So many possible answers.

It’s about a community that cycles to bring hope and freedom to kids rescued from human trafficking.

It’s about miles, cycling, walking, or running, and making those miles matter.

It’s about mountain passes and wonderful memories and sweat and sacrifice.

I’ve answered this question lots of times in lots of ways, depending on circumstances. But for me, anyway, the answer is really pretty simple.

It’s about following a clear Call-To-Action, one that’s sprinkled throughout Scripture. This one’s from Jeremiah 22:3.

Thus says the Lord: Bring about JUSTICE and RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Rescue the disadvantaged,
and don’t tolerate oppression or violence
against the immigrant, the orphan, and the widow.

I don’t believe Jesus expects us to feel guilty about our inability to fix the world. I DO think he expects us to oppose injustice where and when we can.

The FREEDOM TOUR is about doing what we can, where we are, with what we have. For us, that means supporting one group of kids in one safe house.

I answer the question occasionally, more as a self-reminder than anything else. Easy to get lost in the details and forget.

It’s worth stopping to remember that it’s not about all the “stuff” that’s important but can be distracting.

It’s about following Jesus.
