Earlier this week, I wrote about the cost of following dreams – service, sweat, sacrifice, and patience.
I talked about Falling Day and numbers. I focused on what, for me, is the number that matters most – 22.
22 children living in hope and freedom.
Now, let’s talk about some balance. Some perspective. I need to remember the FREEDOM TOUR is an all-volunteer effort.
We are not looking for “easy.” Easy isn’t worth our time, and Jesus certainly didn’t call any of us to do easy.
But we can seek what Seth Godin calls “ease.”
Ease means doing something worthwhile and doing it well. Without creating high-stakes stress. Without conflict.
In Seth’s words, “Ease is a combination of purpose, effort, and skill. It can feel like confidence, even if we’re not sure it’s going to work. Especially then.”
But how to combine purpose, effort, and skill into authentic confidence – even if we’re not sure about the outcome?
Jesus offered the key to working hard with ease.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
He isn’t inviting us to sit on the porch in a rocking chair. He says if we follow Him and do life His way, we can do worthwhile work, do our best, with ease.
Without being weary and burdened. Without stress. Without conflict.
I need to know that today. Perhaps you do as well.
