The Race

Yesterday I shared a quote that said, “The world needs all the good we can do.”

I added a tagline – Now, more than ever.

That’s likely not true… it just feels that way. In fact, the world always needs all the good we can do.

It’s easy to get discouraged. During the past week I’ve watched people I care about who are frightened, and I feel sad and helpless. Maybe you feel that way as well.

But. The work can’t stop. If life for the kids at the Home of Hope just became marginally more difficult, that’s even more reason to do all we can to support them. We can’t allow ourselves to become distracted from the mission.

We cycle (and walk, and run, and volunteer, and donate) to bring hope and freedom to kids rescued from human trafficking.

I spent some time this morning with these words.

… let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…

Didn’t help one bit with the sadness or the helplessness. Still have no idea how to encourage my terrified friends.

But these words remind me that I can’t get distracted. A group of innocent children on the other side of the world depend on us. That’s the race, and I’m going to do my best to run it.

And I’m going to do all I can to invite you along.

Even in our sadness, frustration, or pain, God is still with us and sovereign over all things. He is in control and will use all things for His purposes which are always good. ❤️🙏
