Leading

I ended last time saying I really hope I’m not the leader of the FREEDOM TOUR.

The context was “following.” My point is I want us following Jesus, not me.

I spent some time this week with this passage:

An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”

Seems to me, this is sort of a foundational principle. One who follows Jesus doesn’t get to be the one in authority. That position is occupied.

Following Jesus means being in last place.

I told someone this week “I’m sort of the face of the FREEDOM TOUR.” I’m happy to accept that role if it’s helpful.

But, leader? Not me.

We’re following Jesus.
