Last week Becky asked me a question.
What moves you? What gets you off dead center, out of your comfort zone? What gets you to make a commitment that might require some sacrifice?
I’ve thought about Becky’s question. Whenever we’ve taken a step in faith, it’s been based on trust rather than facts. Seems like the next step isn’t about logic.
We weren’t qualified, didn’t have the knowledge or skills or resources. Whatever it was, we weren’t “enough.” But we chose to follow Jesus, because He is enough.
I’ll admit…occasionally I feel a bit of envy toward big, fancy nonprofits. I wonder why we don’t have the staff and resources…and attention.
But Jesus knew what He was getting when He tapped us on the shoulder. It’s not about what we aren’t, it’s about who He is. And He knows the path He wants us to travel.
None of this is an excuse to give up or do less than our best. In fact, that’s precisely the invitation.
Follow Me.
Do your best, where you are, with what you have.
And trust Me for the outcome.
Amen! If God wants something done, it will happen with or without us. We are to look to Him and use our best discernment to follow while acting.
Key words: Follow & act.
