Regarding yesterday’s post – it’s easy to oppose evil.
Lots of horrible stuff in the world, like child sex trafficking for example, and it’s easy to get angry and want to go all Rambo about it. Easy to want to gather a group of like-minded folks and storm the gates, take down the bad guys, and ride off with the captives.
Here’s the problem – any form of gate-storming is about power and coercion. It might be actual physical violence or it might be social media shaming. Doesn’t matter.
Jesus was never about power, coercion, and control. Whenever we’re storming the gates to oppose something and get a quick solution, we have to stop and ask ourselves if we’re really following Jesus or our own selfish desire for an immediate outcome.
Jesus didn’t raise an earthly army or call on the heavenly army he had at His his disposal. Instead, He spent three years talking to and loving people.
And then he told us to follow Him.
