THE FREEDOM TOUR isn’t about fundraising.
That statement might surprise you since we support a group of kids rescued from human trafficking. Obviously, that support requires money. But when I ask you to join us, I hope it’s not a fundraising appeal.
I hope it’s an invitation to follow Jesus’ call to seek justice for the weak and marginalized. I hope I’m offering an opportunity to join an important cause.
It’s a curious balance, because you and I both know the dollars matter. The kids at Home of Hope need food, shelter, clothing, education, and staff to care for them. Those things aren’t free.
The total yearly cost to operate our Home of Hope is about $100,000.
But fussing about how much money we raise isn’t productive. While begging for money and attempting to induce guilt might be more effective in the short term…it doesn’t fit what I believe Jesus asks us to do.
So, with all that background, I want to offer you the opportunity to support me financially as I ride in Freedom Tour 2023.
My goal: crank my handcycle 2000 miles during 2023. If I’m successful, my total overall handcycling miles will reach 46,000 miles by the end of the year.
I’ve already gotten a start on my indoor trainer. I record my miles in an app, and each time I enter a few miles I’m prompted to remember the kids living in hope and freedom because of your support.

Someone said to me the other day, “Rich, there are a lot of worthy causes.”
He’s right, and we can’t support them all. So whether or not you can support my ride financially, please know I’m grateful that you’re here.
