About Success

COLORADO MOUUNTAIN TOUR begins next week.

Someone recently said they were praying for a successful tour. We need prayer for sure, but the comment has me wondering.

What would a “successful tour” look like?

For me, at least, success has little to do with cycling. And that’s an odd statement for the leader of a bike tour.

I’m really not concerned with how fast, or how far, we ride. Who’s first, who’s last, all the measurables normally associated with cycling – that stuff just isn’t part of how I’ll think about success.

Smiles. Conversations. Relationships. Experiences. Moments. Memories.

Laughs around the dinner table.

Conversations with people we meet along the road.

Great photos.

Continued focus on the mission, the joy of sacrificing to serve each other and the kids at the Home of Hope.

I think about how Jesus might do it, how he did it, and I hope we’ll keep that in mind.

For me, that’s what success looks like. In more that bike tours.
