Mud Season

We’re approaching mud season in Colorado.

It’s an informal space between almost done and not quite ready. Ski areas cling to the last precious weeks of snow. The hardiest cyclists layer up, brave the chilly breezes, and crunch along on road shoulders littered with winter gravel and grime. The rest of us wait anxiously for just a few more degrees.

At the FREEDOM TOUR, mud season feels like waiting for the flag to drop so we can get going on our 10th anniversary celebration. Jerseys are ready. Our generous sponsors are on board.

We’re anxious to ramp up training and fundraising to support the kids at the Home of Hope. We’ve got lots of opportunities for everyone to get involved.

There’s still time to join all the cyclists and volunteers who’ve signed up for the FREEDOM TOUR CLASSIC. You can ride one of 5 updated routes for all abilities, from a 15-mile family ride to our first-ever FREEDOM TOUR Century.

How about joining the COLORADO MOUNTAIN TOUR team? We’ll enjoy 4 days of cycling in the beautiful Gunnison Valley. Routes ~50 miles with options for more miles and lots of climbing.

Not a cyclist? We need volunteers! You can help us make this a wonderful day for everyone you’ll encounter throughout Northern Colorado. You’ll have fun and make new friends – and join everyone for a great group lunch.

Mud season will soon give way to warmer days and cleaner roads. I hope you’ll find a way to join the fun.

As I look forward to the joys of spring cycling, I’m aware that mud season has a much more sinister connotation in Ukraine. As ground thaws, soldiers and equipment encounter one additional obstacle as they slog across thawing terrain.

We pray for peace.
