Have Some Fun!

Celebrations come in many forms.

Some are serious and organized like our Jersey Parade and Theme Song Review. Others can be just spontaneous and fun.

During our ten years of cycling to support the kids at the Home of Home we’ve accumulated literally thousands of photos and hundreds of hours of video. You can see lots of this stuff at our photo site. Some images stand out for their beauty, some because they especially inspirational.

Honestly, though, I tend to remember the laughter.

As we prepare for FREEDOM TOUR 2022, I want to share a few of the silly, funny moments we’ve experienced along this journey. Usually it’ll be in the form of a picture and a short backstory. We’ll begin with these.

We’ve learned a little over the years. One lesson – scout our routes in advance.

In 2013, our team got “just a bit” off course. Remember, these are road bikes.

And apparently we were slow learners, because it happened again in 2014!

Mary offered to coordinate our support team in 2015. She was serious, no-nonsense, very organized…since she served in the army, I nick-named her “Sarge.”

I knew we were in good hands. I also learned that when Mary gave directions she expected them to be followed.

After seeing this photo, I always obeyed!

I asked our 2021 team members to name their scariest animal. Bear, moose, badger, snake, alligator, the answers were mostly what you’d expect.

Becky had fun surprising Curtis and poking fun at his fear of…swans?

Sometimes there’s no deep lesson. Sometimes it’s just fun.
