What’s “courage?”
Bravery? Facing your fears? David standing up to Goliath? All good examples, but courage is really pretty simple.
Courage means doing what’s right regardless of consequences.
Simple, perhaps, but certainly not easy. I’ve had this conversation – with myself and others – and here’s what often happens.
I might lose friends.
Family members might reject me.
My business or income might suffer.
I might lose (the argument, the election, the job).
I might be physically harmed.
I get it. Facing possible negative consequences is hard. It makes sense to be afraid.
While I hope my words inspire you, this is mostly a reminder to myself that following Jesus is simple. And hard.
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
He asks us to do what’s right, even in the face of fear, and He puts Himself in the midst of the process.

In the current culture, it’s easy to become discouraged and think “everyone” has given up on doing what’s right.
In this crazy time, I’m inspired and encouraged by the remarkable community that’s come together around the FREEDOM TOUR. It takes courage to commit to the training and fundraising.
People might think you’re wasting your time. You can’t know whether you’ll be successful or whether people will respond. You might get injured, or spend more money than you planned. The training might be harder or take longer than you thought.
Takes courage to confront all the possible negative consequences of a commitment to support kids rescued from human trafficking.
