Our FREEDOM TOUR team wrote about their experiences.
Maybe you’ve seen these excerpts on Social Media. They’re a fun way of promoting the FREEDOM TOUR and helping people understand what it’s like to be part of this remarkable community. The words inspire and encourage me.
One particular phrase got stuck in my head.
What matters to God, matters to me.
The phrase stuck, I think, because so often we twist it around until we’re sure God’s focused only on our concerns. Mostly I’m pretty sure God’s entirely wrapped up in my sports teams and political views. I behave as though my preferences, my worries, my hopes are the center of God’s universe. And while I know He cares about everything I care about, I don’t really expect the world to be focused on what matters to me.
The idea is to figure out what matters to God, and that’s actually pretty simple.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
Micah 6:8
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly] with your God.
It’s all over Jesus’ ministry and message – seek justice, care for the poor, show mercy – that’s what matters to God.
My hope, for you and for me, is that what matters to God will be what matters to us.
