I got to ride with the team yesterday.
That might sound strange, but I choose my spots carefully to make sure I don’t slow the team down too much. On big-mileage days or days with hills, riding with me would cause the others to be on the road later when it’s hot and there’s increased risk of Colorado storms. As much as I love cranking along with them, I have to consider the team’s needs head of my own.
Thursday we had a totally flat 60 miles from Pueblo to Rocky Ford. The other riders cruised easily while I managed 43 miles in less than 3 hours before lunch. It was a blast!
Today the cyclists crank a tough, rolling, 85 miles into Trinidad. Last big riding day of a great tour.

This will be the most photographed FREEDOM TOUR, thanks mostly to Tom Roepke. Tom and his GoPro camera are everywhere, and we’re getting views we’ve never seen before.
Tom and his wife Melinda, a member of our support team, take good selfies, too.

Days pass quickly. Hard to believe this is our last full day of cycling. We’re tired, but for me it’s difficult to see it come to an end. It’s amazing to be here with these folks doing this incredible thing.
Next year…….
I’ll hold you to that!
