A Journey for Freedom And Justice
That’s the tagline we carried on the back of the FREEDOM TOUR jersey. The tour’s about bringing a bit of freedom and justice to some kids rescued from the horrors of human trafficking.
I realize this week, as Christmas approaches, how easily I get caught up in doing the stuff of preparing for the tour and forget its source.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1, 14)
It’s a beautiful word picture. Jesus, the living Word of God, stepped away from privilege and lived with us. In that single instant, everything changed.
For me, the Christmas story isn’t mangers, wise men, stars, and O Little Town Of Bethlehem. Even Joseph and Mary were important parts of the backstory. At Christmas, The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
Christmas reminds me to seek a FREEDOM TOUR community based on Jesus’ principles. His arrival redefined freedom, justice, and hope.
