Today’s Friday, and I would like to give us all a break.
We talk here about intense issues–God-sized dreams, building community, human trafficking, long distance cycling, following Jesus. We try to do it all with joy and passion, but during my bike ride yesterday it struck me that we might need a break.
So today I’ll do something totally different. I’ll share with you a very personal vision that brings me peace each time I recall it.
I invite you to close your eyes and let the picture form in your own mind.

I walk–WALK!–toward Jesus. He holds His arms wide and I see the most incredible, radiant, welcoming smile. There’s this amazing, enveloping hug. Everything is calm.

A friend once told me this was about death and heaven.
I believe it’s about right now. I believe it’s Jesus speaking to me, and perhaps to you, telling me that everything is okay. He’s telling me that, in all the ways that matter, I’m healed and healthy and whole.
Jesus wasn’t just talking about some future kingdom in which all would be made right. He also didn’t say things would go our way during this life if we just had enough faith.
He said in the midst of the chaos we could be at peace.
I needed to remember that on this Friday. I thought perhaps you did, too.
Thanks, Rich. Good words for me today.
