Everyone on the FREEDOM TOUR has their own story.
It’s the tale of how we arrived at this point, what made us who we are. We spend a lot of time on the tour listening to each other’s stories. It’s the best way to open doors, get to know each other, and build a team.
Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, “What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” C. S. Lewis
Our stories carry significant weight. They impact how we perceive ourselves and our influence. It’s important to understand and honor the stories of our past.
Each of us carries with us another story that’s much more influential, for this story holds the key to the future. This story can literally lock us behind prison bars of fear or propel us into a future of hope and possibility.
This story is the one you tell yourself…about yourself.
My mistakes mean I’m a failure…or…I learn and grow and become stronger because of my mistakes.
I don’t belong here…or…I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I’ll slow everyone else down…or…I’m a valued, loved member of the team and people want to ride with me.
I don’t have anything special to offer…or…God placed me here because I’m unique and I have something to contribute.
People like me don’t do things like this…or…I’m the person who can do this.
Jesus invites us to banish internal stories of fear and limitation and embrace those of courage and hope.
A dream is a story waiting to be written
In two weeks, the FREEDOM TOUR team will gather to begin writing the story of FRONT RANGE FREEDOM TOUR ’16. Each of our eighteen team members will bring their own stories and their own dreams.
I hope they’re stories of hope, possibility, and what we can accomplish in a spirit of servant leadership, always trusting God for the outcome.
