An odd but appropriate title for the final leg of FRONT RANGE FREEDOM TOUR ’16.
Saturday’s word-of-the-day was HOPE. Hope always looks forward with confidence, so even as we gathered for the final Helmets Up! with the familiar stair-step formation of Raton Pass looming in the distance we looked beyond the approaching climb. Following Jesus, supporting the kids at the HOME OF HOPE–those kinds of journeys don’t stop at the finish line of a 500-mile tour.
Still, Saturday was a day for celebrations. First the team cranked from Trinidad to the top of 7800-foot Raton Pass.
After hugs and high-fives, we gathered for a more solemn ceremony. Each of us carried a stone every mile of the journey to represent a burden we no longer wished to carry. One by one we added our stones to the pile and resolved to give the burden to Jesus, to leave it at the top of the pass. We added our stones to those left by previous tours as a makeshift altar.
Finally it was time for a team photo and a high-speed cruise down the mountain.
There will be time for reflection, to tell stories and determine what was accomplished. For now, it’s enough to know we’re not finished.
The journey of hope continues.
Congrats to ALL!
