Selfies And Team Pictures

Are you part of the selfie culture?

I’m following my friend Scott Acton as he rides his bike around the world. I love getting blog updates (you can sign up here) and reading about Scott’s adventures, but the best part of his reports are the photos.

You’d enjoy flipping through Scott’s pictures of the incredible scenery and shots of wildlife. It’s easy to imagine the miles melting away in these kinds of surroundings.

But the photos that matter, the ones I think Scott will treasure most when his journey’s finished, show the people he’s encountered along the way. Those folks will become an integral part of the tapestry of Scott’s memory of this epic trip.

Each of these people represents an interaction, a relationship, an opportunity to share a bit of their common experience. Each picture is, in essence, a team photo for Scott’s ride.

I notice that Scott takes selfies, but nearly always with other people. He’s capturing encounters, relationships. divine appointments.

Our FREEDOM TOUR team will take hundreds of photos during the tour. Most of them will be of people, because that’s what this thing is all about.

If we do it right, there won’t be many individual selfies.
