I have a problem with human trafficking awareness events.
I’ve attended a few of them, and I’d estimate that 80-90% of the people I meet are women. Most of the speakers are women. The majority of the organizers seem to be women. An observer might conclude that human trafficking, and sex trafficking in particular, are women’s issues.
That’s simply not true.
In my humble opinion, sex trafficking is every bit a men’s issue. Traffickers and exploiters are predominately men. Men certainly create nearly the entire the demand for the “product.”
Earlier this week we met with our partners at Brighton United Methodist Church. As we discussed how to build community awareness around the FREEDOM TOUR’s Father’s Day visit to their church, our friend Raven almost whispered:
The Heart Of The Father
Everyone sort of stopped, mesmerized by the imagery. Father’s Day. Fathers coming together to surround and protect innocent children. Fathers bringing their sons, showing them what it means to be strong and broken at the same time, ending the cycle of “boys will be boys.” God the Father holding all of it, all of us, in the hollow of His hands.
The whole thing just sounded so powerful and, well, holy.
The Heart of The Father
I’m grateful for the passion of our female friends, and I’m in no way suggesting they’re incapable. I do believe men must understand and accept their role in breaking this horrible cycle and capturing the true heart of The Father.

Our friends in Brighton are getting excited about their partnership with the FREEDOM TOUR. As you can see, it’s leading them in an amazing direction that might not have much to do with riding bikes.
You can get in on the fun. Contact us and let’s talk about how you can become part of this remarkable community. You’ll meet great people, form wonderful relationships, and help us support the 22 kids at the HOME OF HOPE who have a chance to live in freedom and love.
