Last night we described the HOME OF HOPE to a brand new audience.
As I listened to their questions I realized I almost take this incredible place for granted. I think about it, write about it, and talk about it so frequently that it’s become like part of the family. I say HOME OF HOPE as though everyone understands just what a miracle this place really is.
So I started from scratch–kids born in a brothel–and I saw the horrified looks.
Do the kids know about their background? How do they deal with that?
How did they get rescued? Are they part of the lower caste system?
Do they understand that people in America are riding bikes to help them?
I don’t often think about those questions. It was good to go back to the beginning.
I’ve heard that this stuff happens here, too. Is that true?
Human trafficking, child sexual abuse for profit, here in Colorado? Sadly, yes.
But you’re doing something abut it. You’re riding your bikes 58 miles on Saturday to raise funds and awareness. Your ride will change the world. Do you believe that?
And one big guy replied quietly, “One step at a time.”

What’s so important to you that you don’t stop and think about it? Is there something you need to revisit, explain to a new audience, see through new eyes?
It’s not a bad idea to make sure the big things are still the big things and that everyone else understands the big thing you keep talking about.
