It’s the sort of tired that comes from satisfaction, from choosing to do a difficult thing and seeing it through. It’s time to let bikes rest for a day or two as bodies recover and minds reflect.
If you followed our journey you saw lots of laughter and joy. We met wonderful people and had opportunities to share the story behind our tour. The arrival at the top of Raton Pass was a time of celebration.
Our team just finished a difficult thing. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, this tour required dedication and sacrifice. At the end we experienced two truths:
The greater the challenge, the greater the triumph.
The greater the triumph, the sweeter the rest.
We did this difficult thing as a team. At the top of Raton Pass everyone instinctively sought out teammates for hugs and high fives because you don’t celebrate a team accomplishment by yourself. At a time like that you don’t want to be alone.
I hope you’ve been inspired by this journey. I hope you see a team of ordinary people doing something extraordinary and feel the urge to follow your own dream. Maybe that’s not a bike ride, or maybe it is. Perhaps you’re intrigued enough by this crazy notion that you’ll consider whether FREEDOM TOUR ’16 is a difficult thing you want to do.
There are still stories to share. Hopefully we learned something, gained some insights, encountered some ideas worth reflecting about in coming days and weeks.
For now, there’s rest.
