“What’s your dream goal for the FREEDOM TOUR?”
Interesting question, and honestly one I hadn’t really considered. Strange, for a project based on following God-sized dreams.
Once you get that kind of idea rattling around your brain, it creates its own space and hangs out. You realize it’s not going away. So I looked back at the core of our mission:
Encourage others to follow God-sized dreams, challenge their limitations, and believe that hope changes what’s possible.
Raise funds and awareness to combat human trafficking and support the kids at Project Rescue’s Home of Hope.
So far, we’ve really focused on doing what we can with one team and one week. Clearly that model limits how many people we reach and the financial impact we can make. The question about a “dream goal” got me wondering if we could grow this thing.
What if we could do more than one tour and touch more people?
What if we could double or triple our financial impact on the Home of Hope? What if we could (gulp) support their ENTIRE yearly budget (in excess of $100,000)?
That’s crazy talk, right? Well, yeah, except I’ve learned to be careful with the word “crazy.”
When you’ve gone from I can’t push my wheelchair 10 feet (in 1988) to I cranked my handcycle the entire length of the Mississippi River (1500 miles in 2011), you tend to look differently at “impossible.”
Honestly, my dream goal is to continue to dream, to never settle for easy or same-old-same-old. Numbers and miles are just markers. The goal is to follow the dream wherever it leads, to use my unique gifts and talents to serve others and change the world.
My dream, for now, is to inspire YOU to dream. I hope you’ll dream a big, crazy, difficult, God-sized dream. And I hope you’ll step out in faith and follow that dream.
I hope you’ll catch the vision of the FREEDOM TOUR, visit the website, and find your place on the team.
If an old, bald, crippled guy can crank a handcycle 1500 miles, what can you accomplish if you face your fear and trust God for the outcome?
