Imagine learning to ride a bike while sitting still.
Seems like it would be the safe way to begin, right? No risk from crashing into obstacles, wouldn’t need to steer, no worries about brakes or pedals. You could just concentrate on one skill, and after you mastered the whole balancing thing you could move on to other aspects of cycling.
Except, of course, it doesn’t work like that.
Like lots of things, you can’t learn to ride a bike sitting still. The only way to learn how to ride a bike is to ride a bike. You’ll never be fully ready, never know everything you need to know, never be completely risk-free.
At some point you have to just start pedaling and figure it out as you go. But you gotta go.
I think most things that matter are like that.
You’ll never be ready. At some point, you just gotta decide and go…and figure it out along the way.
