“It’s easy to miss stuff that’s right in front of you.”
Yesterday I sat for about an hour with one of the most influential businessmen in our community. He’s kind enough to spend some time a couple of times a year offering his insights about what’s happening with RICH’S RIDE, and yesterday he mentioned the importance of getting another perspective.
As we reviewed the year, he focused on the local impact of FRONT RANGE FREEDOM TOUR. He asked if we understood how many places a project like this touches a community.
So I started talking about some of the connections we create among riders, programs, sponsors, etc. That’s when he focused the lens a little closer to home.
I’d explained my connection with HARVEST FARM and told him some of those guys plan to join us for part of the ride. He immediately connected an important set of dots.
By participating, these guys get to be part of a larger story and connect with a community effort. They get connected with people and a church in the community. Sweating, eating, and sacrificing together erases differences and forms bonds.
Their participation also involves several local businesses who support HARVEST FARM and will sponsor these riders. Through that involvement those business folks will learn about RICH’S RIDE, human trafficking, and the home of hope.
How many touches happen in that small piece of the project? Who knows where all those touches might lead?

I see my friend’s point. So often we think in terms of big-picture changes and conquering the world. That’s okay, I guess, but it’s important to make a difference in our own neighborhoods as well.
The neighborhood thing doesn’t attract quite as many Twitter followers, but maybe God doesn’t care much about that.

This is such a great reminder about how we can rest in our calling and Who has called us! Thank you- just what I needed today!
