Lucy and Kevin Donaldson have guts.
The “red light district” in Delhi, India is six hundred years old. It’s big business, operated by organized crime. The ruthless human traffickers who buy and sell women and children place little value on a single human life aside from the income it can produce. They’re not kind to those who wish to disrupt their sick trade.
Kevin and Lucy, as partners with Project Rescue, purchased an Outreach Center in the heart of this awful place. The Project Rescue Outreach Center is the first permanent anti-trafficking effort in the area—ever! It’s an announcement that they’re not going away, a vital step in building trust with the community.
Lucy goes there nearly every day to reach out to the women who are trapped in this horrible environment. She establishes relationships that potentially lead to a way out for them and their children, and offers support, counseling, food, and medical care.
Kevin doesn’t usually accompany Lucy when she enters this dangerous situation. He stays away because men typically visit that area for one reason. His presence would create suspicion and distraction.
The Donaldsons have rescued 20 children from the brothels. These kids live in a HOME OF HOPE where they’re loved, supported, educated, and guided toward becoming productive leaders in their communities. The home currently resides in rented space, but plans are progressing to build a permanent facility.
We talk about courage, but for some reason that word seems a bit sanitary for what these folks are doing. There’s something visceral about choosing to walk in literal physical, emotional, and spiritual danger every single day.
Their work takes guts.

The initial Front Range Freedom Tour raised funds to pay the yearly support for 19 of the kids at the HOME OF HOPE. We were honored to meet them and present the check to them personally last weekend, and we’re excited about plans for an expanded 2014 tour and the opportunity to partner in a bigger way with this amazing work.
