Door

Happy Monday!

Becky’s wisdom inspires today’s word-of-the-week…

DOOR

MondaySuppose someone knocks on your front door.

You go to the door and try to PUSH it open. You sweat and strain and shove with all your might. You really want to open that door, but despite your best effort you’re unable to force it open.

Your front door is designed to open inward.

I think we live a lot of life like this. We try to push through doors that just aren’t going to open, no matter what we do. Maybe they’re locked, but perhaps we’re insisting on doing it our way when our way isn’t God’s way.

I’m thinking I should make sure I find the right doors. And once I find them, it’s worth a few minutes figuring out how they were designed to open.

Jesus said, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

How sad to imagine Him standing right there on the other side of the door. I struggle to get to Him, frustrated when my best efforts fail to push past the barrier.

It’s simple. Respect the design.

Step aside, turn the knob, and gently pull the door open.

Have a great week.
