We meet some of the most amazing, ordinary people on this journey. I can’t tell you about all of them, but I thought I’d take today to characterize a few. I hope you’ll get a sense of the incredible blessings we experience.

Saturday morning we were invited to meet with a group of US Navy Sea Cadets and their leaders. Larry (left) and Chief Starr (USN, Ret) volunteer their time to influence young people and help them become the leaders of tomorrow. They proudly told us about the growth of the program and their four upcoming graduates with appointments to US military academies.
In an age when there’s so much pessimism about where we’re headed, these guys aren’t complaining. They’re doing what they can, where they are, with what they have to work on a solution.
As we left our meeting with the cadets and prepared for the morning ride, Rich ambled out of the neighboring VFW hall (he introduced himself as “Richie-Rich”) to see what we were doing. Honestly, I think he was mostly interested in Monte.
After Becky told our story, Richie-Rich invited us inside. He demanded quiet, introduced us, explained our mission, and “strongly encouraged” everyone to contribute. We left a few minutes later with a bunch of new friends and a nice donation for Convoy Of Hope.

We connected with the folks at SAINTS through our friend Jeff Roman at Convoy Of Hope. They were kind enough to invite us to meet with a group of their kids Friday morning.
SAINTS operates an organized physical education program for Christian home school kids. Their mission is building character through sports and physical activity.
We’re meeting another group of SAINTS Monday morning before we head out of Miami. When we arrived in Florida we’d never heard of this organization. Now they feel like members of the team.

Jason Dugmore started following the blog almost two years ago. Aside from great hairstyles, we share a love of handcycling. When Jason realized our route passed through his hometown he arranged for us to speak to nearly 400 students at Morningside Academy.
It was an honor to meet Jason, his family, and his colleagues at Morningside. Our time with those students will mark a highlight of this tour.

Fred and Joan are taking a Harley trip to celebrate their 30th anniversary. They came over to see what the trailer was about and offered a donation.
After I headed down the road, Becky continued the conversation and discovered they were Red Sox fans. Becky mentioned that I am an avid Yankees fanatic. Fred wanted his money back.
He was kidding—I think. You never can tell about Red Sox fans.

This is a small sample. We’ll try to share more, but there’s too much, too many, to write all the details. It’s simply amazing. Becky and I are grateful for all you do to give us this incredible opportunity.
