Do you ever stop and think about how much other people do for you?
Americans are enamored with the image of the lone ranger, the one-person success story. We love the myth of doing it ourselves.
But it’s mostly a myth. The truth is that most success is the result of community.
RICH’S RIDE is a perfect example. From the outside it looks like I’m at the center, but Becky really does the hard work that makes it all possible. And neither of us would even be here without the efforts of a small army of supporters. The whole thing is a team effort, a community in which everyone does their part without caring who receives credit.
Our friend Mona from Acorn Creative Studio is one of those folks. I’ve never even met Mona in person, but everyone who follows RICH’S RIDE benefits from her generosity and creative gifts.
Mona created the cool logo and designed our amazing web site. That kind of professional design work was far beyond our budget, so she offered to do the work for next to nothing. Like so many other folks, she saw and believed in what we’re doing and wanted to help.
Mona not only provided a world-class design, she also continued to host and support the site once it was established. When hackers attacked, she spent huge amounts of time getting us back online. Without her skill and selfless generosity, you literally wouldn’t be reading these words today.
As this journey continues, Becky and I regularly meet people like Mona, people who willingly help in their own way without much recognition. One blessing of this project is the constant reminder to stop and say “thank you.”
So—to Mona, and to all of you who make this crazy journey possible: Thank you.
Who’s done something for you. Who do you need to thank?
