A speaking gig this week has me thinking about today’s word-of-the-week…
Experiences
I’m invited to talk to a group of fifth graders tomorrow. Visiting with kids is always one of my favorite things, and I’m intrigued by the topic their teacher provided: she wants me to talk about Experiences That Shape Our Identities.
Pretty heady stuff for fifth graders, huh? It’s a long-term unit they’re doing, inviting community members to share their experiences as a way of prompting discussion about the notion of identity. I’m impressed.
So what would you list if someone asked for experiences that shaped your identity?
Not a bad question for a Monday morning.
